"The Changeless Jesus" was the subject of his "Initial Sermon" on Sunday, January 25, 1975. He was later ordained in 1979 and subsequently commissioned by God (over a quarter of a century ago) to pastor people. This Vessel of Honor has proven, displayed over and over again, a fervent commitment to his God and mankind. He is oh-so-serious about his work, yet so well-rounded! An awesome Bible Teacher, Fervent Preacher of the Gospel, Prayer Warrior and some. His schedule is a demanding one; his responsibilities are ever-increasing: Pastor - St. Paul Life Center UFWB Church for the past 29 years, Annual Bishop of the Metropolitan Annual Conference (Consecrated October 1995), 1st Vice General Bishop of the UFWB Churches, Inc. (tri-state area) and Chairman of the General Executive Board since September 2002. He continues to seek divine guidance in every facet of ministry as he is afforded the opportunity to lead this August Body of God's Best into greener pastures and higher heights in the Lord. Bishop Rawls is determined to keep his hands to the Gospel Plough. He is set on maintaining a level head, making sure that his feet remain on the ground and that he is forever in-tune with the Master's plan and purpose for his life. Adored by his family and friends alike, this husband, father, pastor, brother and confidante have been allowed to touch lives in a meaningful way, speaking life and hope into the hearts of the hopeless. He is an all-around man! Although his borders continue to be enlarged, he still possesses a listening ear. He is a born Encourager, Strengthener, and at times, will even lead you right into some "crack your side" wholesome humor and uncontrollable laughter. It is quite evident that Bishop Hilton Rawls, Sr. has been favored to dream dreams that DO come true! He yet continues to envision, experience and witness heaven's manifold blessings in his life while witnessing the same evidence in the lives of countless others who have dared to Believe. Years of toil, much learning, hardships and unshakeable commitment have molded and shaped the man we have all come to highly respect the person of BISHOP HILTON RAWLS, SR. Bishop Rawls is truly a man who has ruled his house well. As a provider for his family, he has held numerous jobs. He proudly served as a well-respected Special Police Officer for the City of Newark and the surrounding area for nearly 20 years (aka Pistol Packing Preacher). He later became an educator employed by the City of East Orange, New Jersey.

Isaiah 40:31 is Bishop Rawls's Favorite scripture and it reads:
